Department Welcomes Newest REU-SE Cohort

The Institute for Software research recently welcomed this year’s cohort of undergraduate researchers as a part of the department’s Research Experience for Undergraduates in Software Engineering (REU-SE) program.

Geared towards providing undergraduate students with challenging, innovative software engineering research opportunities, students spend the summer on campus working closely with ISR’s renowned faculty to explore topics ranging from mining software repositories to green computing.Capitalizing on ISR’s tradition in collaborative and cross-disciplinary research, students in the REU-SE program will have the chance to work with researchers across the School of Computer Science, including Societal Computing, Human Computer Interaction, Robotics, and more.

And this is an exciting year for the REU-SE program. Not only is this batch one of the strongest to date, but they also represent one of the largest and most diverse groups ISR has welcomed to campus. With 18 students hailing from a variety of undergraduate institutions, social groups, and experience levels, their involvement in the community is sure to have an enriching effect on all.

So we hope you will join us in welcoming these bright young minds to Carnegie Mellon. We are sure they are bound for great things!
