The Million Book Project: Past, Present and Future

The Million Book Project was an attempt to demonstrate that creation of Digital Libraries at Scale is possible by scanning at least a Million Book and making them available for free to anyone anywhere at anytime. It was a multinational endeavor among US, China, and India initially. In this talk and speakers in the rest of the symposium will share their experiences 20 years ago in bootstrapping such a large scale project. In this talk I will discuss issues of the unfinished agenda of “Preserving Our Past and Present for the Future Generations”
