Bio

Swarnalatha Ashok is a member of the core faculty of Carnegie Mellon's Master of
Software Engineering (MSE) professional programs and the Associate Director of
MSE for Executive Education and Corporate Engagement.

Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon University, she was a faculty member and the
Program Director for the BS (IS) – Smart-City Management and Technology major at
the School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), Singapore Management
University (SMU). Prior to joining SMU, she served as the Chief of the Master of
Technology (Software Engineering) program at the Institute of Systems Science
(ISS), National University of Singapore (NUS), with the responsibilities of formulating
and ensuring that the curriculum was kept relevant to the industry professionals. She
has also served as a faculty and Program Director of the MS (Network Planning and
Simulation) program at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.

During her career as an educationist, she has taught several topics in Software
Engineering such as API Design, Cloud Computing, Platform Engineering, Agile
methods, Software Architectures, Design Patterns, Clean code, and programming
languages. She has supervised several industry projects, consulted, and led industry
projects for organizations such as SISTIC and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
Swarnalatha has also served as a Software Engineer, Project Lead and Project
Manager at DCM Data Products, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Motorola
where she has architected, designed and developed networking and systems
software.

Swarnalatha has co-authored a book — Object-Oriented Programming and Java.

Swarnalatha has an MSc(Tech) in Computer Science from BITS Pilani, India and a
PGDip (Business Administration) from Annamalai University, India.
